I
give private lessons in Bay Area, but if you notice
that I’ll play in your city (check my gigs
), private lesson can be arranged as well.
For rates, availability and other information, call

I’m
trying to combine my knowlege of all styles that
I play to make totally individual approach to every
student. If there's any particular style you're
interested in, the lessons will be more focused
on that style. I’m focused on technique as
well as music. In general, my lessons are structured
for bassists of all levels from beginner to advanced
and all styles of traditional and contemporary music
including jazz, classical, rockabilly, bluegrass,
Balkan, Middleeastern etc. This is one of rare places
where you can learn things like slap technique on
the upright, irregular Balkan rhythms and Middle
Eastern maqams. I was learning from some of the
best bassists (check my biography)
and trying to pass that knowlege to my students.
For teaching I combine books I found are giving
the best results. Some of those are: |
|
For
bowing technique:
-Montag Lajos “Nagybogoiskola”
-Ludwig Streicher “Mein Musizieren auf dem
Kontrabass”
-Josef Hrabe “86 Etuden fur Kontrabass”
-Franz Simandl “Gradus ad Parnassum”
-Kayser “36 Studies” |
For
slap technique: |
| This
is something that there are no many teachers who
can teach you. For slap bass, I made my one program
that covers all slap patterns through all music
styles. |
| Besides
all that, lessons include: |
For
pizzicato technique:
-Montag Lajos “Nagybogoiskola”
-Josef Hrabe “86 Etuden fur Kontrabass”
-E. Madeski “Kontrabass – Studien” |
-Classical
& Jazz Music Theory
-Sight Reading
-Ear Training
-Bass Line Construction
-Soloing |
-Jazz
Improvisation
-Good time feel
-Orchestral excerpts
-Balkan irregular rhythms
-Middle Eastern Maqams |
